A new pizza restaurant, Red Zeppelin, will occupy a building at 4395 Perkins Road. The building originally housed a Church's Fried Chicken restaurant and then was converted to University Motors, a used car lot Raymond J. VanMerrienboer purchased the property for $500,000. The site possessed about 18,600 square feet and had 150 feet of frontage on Perkins Road. The plan, according to VanMerrienboer, is to renovate the property into a new pizza restaurant. Red Zeppelin will sell pizza by the slice and offer take-n-bake pies through a drive-thru window. The property has access to the Southdowns Shopping Center near The Bulldog. The sale was brokered by Mark Hebert at Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate Company. Hebert was instrumental in locating Raising Cane's restaurant sites in and around the Baton Rouge. I'm sure the Red Zeppelin concept has hopes to be as successful.—Tom Cook |
